Brainteaser

I found some interesting articles on brainteaser. Try it!

1. A man is trapped in a room. The room has only two possible exits: two doors. Through the first door there is a room constructed from magnifying glass. The blazing hot sun instantly fries anything or anyone that enters. Through the second door there is a fire-breathing dragon. How does the man escape?

Solution
He waits until night time and then goes through the first door.

2. In front of you are three light switches. Only one does anything, and it turns on the light downstairs. From here you can't see the light, and it makes no sound. You must determine which switch operates the light, BUT you can only go check it once. How do you figure out which switch is for the light?

Solution
Flip any switch you want. Wait for about 5-10 minutes to let the bulb heat up. Flip that same switch off, and another one on. Go check the light. If it's off and hot, it was the first switch, if it's on it was the second and if it's cold and off, it was the last one.

3. You are attending a business meeting which consists of only accountants and lawyers. From your previous dealings with these two professions, you know that accountants always tell the truth about everything, and lawyers always lie about something.

Two gentlemen, Sam and Adam, approach you. Sam introduces himself and says, "I am a lawyer, but Adam is an accountant."

Based on what you know from your previous dealings, what are each of the men's actual professions?

Solution
Both Sam and Adam are lawyers.

Since an accountant ALWAYS tells the truth about everything, he would never say that he is a lawyer. Therefore, Sam must be a lawyer. Since he is telling the truth about being a lawyer, and you know that he always lies about something, he must be lying about the second part of his statement. Therefore, Adam is not an accountant but also a lawyer.

Mandarin Lesson

Few weeks back, my sister had to attend her friend’s wedding and so the day before we went shopping for a new dress. After trying from shop to shop, I finally told her not to speak mandarin to the salesgirls because her mandarin sounds funny. FYI: my sister’s mandarin is worst than mine. But she don’t wan listen to me and so this funny incident happen.

Me: How is the dress? You like it?
Sis: Yeah, I’m buying
Me: You wan look for another dress? You wan show mom first?
Sis: Ok, we come back later

Then my sister turns and talks to the salesgirl. She’s trying to ask the sales girl to keep it first while we continue shopping. The following conversation is in mandarin.

Sis: Nah Chi Kern Wo Shao Teow !
Me: BURN :-o Shou ok not Shao!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The moral of the story, don’t speak mandarin if you don’t know how !

27 Dresses

After weeks of exams and assignments, I finally had a time to watch it. It’s a story about this girl (Jane) and how she had become bridesmaids for 27 times with 27 dresses. Finally she put on her 28th dress on her wedding day. It’s a nice story for those who enjoy the sensation of weddings.

And the best part is I’m going to be bridesmaids soon. Yeah!

What a day !

After having spent half of my day in the room, I finally had a chance to go out. It wasn’t raining anymore and so I went for a jog with Suet. It’s the first time for me since the opening of the stadium here in MMU, even thought it’s a bit too late to be the first time using it but at least I used it before I put on my robes. It was so tiring. The last time I ran was probably 5 years back, phew. At the end I walk for 4 rounds while Miss Suet ran 8 rounds, probably because she can take bigger steps because she has long legs. Haha !

Sunset

Every night
The horizon lights up
Swirls of pink and orange
Fading to blue and purple

Few bother to look anymore
At a blessing
That only comes once a day

Each sunset is different
No two exactly alike Pic: Taken from my room
Difference flows throughout overlooking Stad building
While it is the only similarity

Over the ocean
Or through the sky scrapers
Out on the prairie
Or in an apartment

You can still see a piece
A piece of something
Something never to return
A sunset

For the colors are shimmering
For a moment they stay
Only to disappear into change
Change just as beautiful as the last

This is why
No matter where you go
One thing remains the same,
A difference in sunsets

In your very own sunset
